Pedestrian struck and killed in Saturday crash

A man has died after being struck by a car early Saturday morning.

The crash occurred on U.S. 231, about two miles north of Pell City around 5:40 a.m. James Caley Brittain, 74, of Pell City was standing in the northbound lane when he was hit by a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Brittain was struck by three more cars in the southbound lane. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Monte Carlo has been identified as 56-year-old Deliliah Jackson of Riverside. Jackson was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate this crash.
