Following Auburn's loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday, Gene Chizik informed the media that senior tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen is out for the season with a hip injury, ending his record-setting career on the Plains.

Lutzenkirchen did not play on Saturday, but made the trip to Nashville and watched from the sidelines in street clothes.

The Marietta, Ga. native ranks first in touchdowns by a tight end in school history with 14 and holds the single-season record for touchdowns with seven in 2011.

Before Vanderbilt, he was the Tigers' second-leading receiver with 15 receptions for 139 yards.
