The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a shooting outside a west Birmingham night club that left one man dead and four others wounded.

The shooting happened at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Saturday at C C Night Club in the Midway Plaza shopping center located at 1201 Bessemer Road.

According to Sgt. Johnny Williams, West Precinct officers responded to the location to investigate a report of a disturbance and arrived to find a commotion in the parking lot and suspects firing handguns. One Birmingham police officer discharged his weapon during the incident.

After restoring order, officers located four subjects on the scene injured by gunfire. One subject was grazed and treated on the scene. Two other subjects were transported to UAB Hospital for additional treatment. The remaining victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Officers later learned that a fifth subject arrived at UAB Hospital by private vehicle suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Birmingham Homicide investigators and evidence technicians were called to the scene, as well as the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, who will assist in the investigation.

The victim's identity will be released upon notification of the immediate family.

No arrests have been made at this time.
