BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The family of a teenager injured during a shooting in prank played by a group of teens has taken him off life support.  15-year-old Jesse Rainey died Friday at a Birmingham hospital.
Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May says the shooting happened early Saturday morning at a rural home in Tuscumbia.  Eight teenagers had gone there for the weekend, and no adults were present.  May said a group went outside to play a prank. They flipped off an electrical breaker to turn out the lights. Rainey then hid in a closet as part of the prank.
When one boy opened that closet door, Rainey jumped out to scare him. The boy fired a gun, shooting Rainey in the head.
Authorities are investigating the case as an accidental shooting.
