Railroad Park wins national award

BIMRINGHAM - AL -

The honors keep rolling in for one of Birmingham's most popular parks.

Railroad Park was awarded the Urban Land Institute's Urban Open Space Award. It edged out two parks in New York, one in Oregon and another in Calgary.

The competition looked at design, success and growth of the surrounding areas in terms of economic development.

The park will receive a $10,000 cash prize. Also, it will be featured in Urban Land magazine.
