Suspect arrested in connection to shooting on 41st Street North in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

The Birmingham Police Department have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with Wednesday night's 41st Street North shooting.

Rakim Hawkins of Birmingham turned himself into Birmingham homicide investigators shortly after the incident took place.

The shooting occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of 41st Street North in Birmingham.

Officers responded to the location to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital by private auto to be treated and has since been released.

Hawkins is being held at the Jefferson County Jail under an assault warrant with a $30,000 bond.
