Dozens of people have been arrested in Etowah County during "Operation No Excuse."

As of 3:00pm on Wednesday, 46 individuals have been arrested on 61 warrants.  The arrests are part of an effort in Etowah County to reduce the 235 warrants in the county.

Four teams, comprised of officers from several agencies participated in the warrant round-up that began at 6:00am.

Warrants ranged from drug charges to bad checks.

"The majority of these individuals are repeat offenders," says Sheriff Todd Entrain.  "There are no excuses for them today.  They must pay their fines, resolve their case or stay in jail."

This is the second warrant operation conducted this year in Etowah County.  "Operation Lockdown" was held in April 2012.

Many individuals wanted have not been found.  Anyone who is aware of a warrant against them is encouraged to turn themselves in at the Etowah County Sheriff's Office or Drug Task Force.

Agencies involved in "Operation No Excuse" include the following:

  • Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit
  •  Etowah County Sheriff's Office
  •  Joint Special Operations Group
  •  United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force
  •  Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force
  •  Attila Police Department
  •  Boa Police Department
  •  Gadsden Fire SWAT Medics
