AJ McCarron's mother disputed a report that her son had a torn meniscus in his right knee. AJ McCarron's mother disputed a report that her son had a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Russ Mitchell, the lead columnist for College Football News, said on Tuesday in a radio interview with Paul Finebaum that three sources have told him that Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron has a slight tear of his meniscus ligament in his right knee.

"Lot of chatter coming out of Alabama about AJ McCarron's knee. Heard from 3 sources now that there's a meniscus tear." Mitchell tweeted on Tuesday.

After being informed of his report, Dee Dee Bonner, the mother of McCarron, had this to say in an email reply:

"I have never known Coach Saban to lie about anything said in the press regarding his players conditions.  And as a parent of two players I trust Coach Saban and the entire coaching staff 10000%.  I trust the doctors at Bama and have no worries at all related to any aspect of my boys playing at Bama.

"AJ does not have a torn anything in his knee…

"I can see where source may have thought that because AJ did leave the stadium Saturday night in a walking boot and knee brace but he is at practice and all is well. "

McCarron injured his right knee in the win over Missouri last Saturday, and Nick Saban said on Monday that his quarterback's knee is sore but he should be fine to play against Tennesse on Saturday.

Mitchell tweeted later that Bonner reached out to him to correct his report.

"Both McCarron's mother @DeeDeeBonner & cousin @rdm2317 have said there is no meniscus tear in McCarron's R knee." he said.

Saban's news conference on Wednesday could get interesting if he responds to Tuesday's report from Mitchell.
