Synthetic marijuana arrests in Cherokee Co.

Posted: Updated:

Seven people are facing drug charges in Cherokee County.  Sheriff Jeff Shaver says these seven people were arrested for possessing synthetic cannabis.  Sabrina D. McFry, 36, Melody B. Williamson, 32, Kerry D. Presnell, 24, Cody S. Thompson, 18, and Dillon D. Ocain, 20, all of Centre, are being charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thompson has an additional controlled substance charge for possession of methamphetamine.  Two juveniles were also arrested for possession of the synthetic marijuana.

Investigators determined the illegal drugs were purchased from a store in Georgia and transported into Cherokee County.

Sheriff Shaver wants to make the public aware these drugs are not legal.  There is no such thing as "legal weed."  The possession or distribution of synthetic cannabis is a felony and carries the same penalty as possession or distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, or heroin.
