City leaders are celebrating Birmingham's future by first honoring its past.
Mayor William Bell unveiled his new "50 Years Forward" campaign Monday, which aims to chronicles the history and progress of the Civil Rights Movement. Bell, along with others including Birmingham City Schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon, spoke about the campaign and its related website, www.50yearsforward.com, during a program at Phillips Academy. Bell showed the website as well as an accompanying brief video to sixth graders.
The website marks the beginning of a series of events commemorating the Civil Rights Movement.
