ABC 33/40's Candace Sweat reports that play in the football game between Hewitt-Trussville and Mountain Brook was stopped in the first half after a fan collapsed, requiring the attention of paramedics working the game.
Chief Tim Wooten of the Mountain Brook Fire Department confirmed that emergency personnel from his station was on site working the game when a fan required their immediate attention. At 7:18 p.m. additional assistance was requested by the on-site rescue team, which arrived three minutes later.
Chief Wooten said care for the fan continued throughout the transport from the stadium to an area hospital.
Emergency personnel were seen performing CPR on the man before he was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Update 10:30 p.m.
ABC 33/40 has confirmed that the man suffered a massive heart attack at the game tonight and passed away a short time later. He was the grandfather of a Hewitt-Trussville football player.
