PELL CITY - AL -

In a judicial reversal, 28 rottweilers seized by Birmingham Jefferson County Animal Control have been given another chance at life.  They will remain in the custody of animal control.

After a fatal attack on an elderly man in Leeds last month, 33 rottweilers were seized from the scene. The two dogs involved in the attack were killed by police on the scene.  St. Clair County Judge Alan Farr reversed an earlier decision to euthanize the dogs, and now experts will decide the fate of the dogs.

According to Crossroads Animal Hospital, 28 of the dogs passed temperament tests and are adoptable.  Most will be sent to New York animal rescue agency specializing in rottweilers.  They will be in foster care, and likely adopted by people in that community.
