Gadsden man arrested and charged with rape

Etowah County, AL -

Calvin Michael Sims, 52, of Gadsden, has been arrested and charged with a rape related offense.

"Sims is charged with one count of first degree rape, which is a felony," states Investigator Haydyn Hedgspeth. The incident allegedly occurred Saturday, September 29, at a residence located in the Tidmore Bend community.

The victim and suspect were acquaintances.

Sims is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $25,000 cash bond.
