How did we know that?
22% of cars and trucks built for the 2012 model year have white paint. In fact it's the most popular color worldwide.
Silver is a close second, and black, gray and red round out the top five.
Who determines this? Paint supplier PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company provides paints to GM, Ford, BMW and others.
Will the trend last? Probably not. One industry expert says we'll be seeing more cars in browns and oranges over the next couple of years.
