TUSCALOOSA - AL -

Tuscaloosa may no longer push, to keep certain businesses out of the tornado reconstruction zones.  A proposal was on the table to place a moratorium on tattoo parlors, check cashing businesses and tobacco shops.  But at Tuesday's council meeting, Mayor Walt Maddox said that there is no need for the restrictions, because there's no indication that a "plethora" of those type businesses plan to open in the area.  The council agreed to join in, with the city of Northport, for a study on how those types of businesses affect growth.
