Your Health Oct-10 Social security increase

Posted: Updated:

If you count on Social Security benefits for your health and well being, here's a little good news.

Social Security benefits will increase next year, but not by much.

The American Institute for Economic Research estimates recipients can expect a bump of one-point-five to one-point-seven percent in their benefits.

That's less than half of the three-point-six-percent cost of living increase recipients received earlier this year when inflation was higher.

The Social Security Administration will announce the 2013 benefit increase after the Labor Department releases its September inflation reading next week.

That reading is used to calculate the cost of living adjustment made annually to benefits.
