The Samford football team held its final full practice in preparation for Saturday's game against 19th-ranked The Citadel, with a one-hour workout in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.

Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the sixth time, with The Citadel holding a 3-2 advantage in the series. The last two meetings in the series have come down to the last possession of the game. In 2010, The Citadel scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to win, 13-12 at Seibert Stadium, and last season, Samford scored a touchdown with six seconds left to win, 19-14, in Charleston.

Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said he expects another close, hard-fought contest this season.

"They're ranked 19th in the country and they're another good football team," Sullivan said. "Every week, from here on out, it will be just like that for us. The last two years, against The Citadel, it has come down to the last play of the game, and I don't expect anything any different this week."

This week's game marks the second-straight week Samford has played a team that runs the option offense, after playing at Georgia Southern last week. Sullivan said there are some similarities in the way the two teams play, but there are some things that The Citadel does differently.

"There will be some carry over," Sullivan said. "But they do some different things, and we have our work cut out for us. In fact, The Citadel has already beaten Georgia Southern and App. State this year, so they're a good football team."

The Bulldogs will hold one final walk-through Friday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
