Miles College officials mark the start of new construction Thursday.
The school's board of trustees held a ground-breaking ceremony for three buildings, including a new admissions center, a student dining hall and a 204- bed resident hall. Officials say the resident hall is much-needed because current dormitories are full and the school has had to rent out an entire hotel to house other students.
The construction is part of a $20 million capital improvement project. The school's president, Dr. George French Jr., says it's well worth the time and investment.
The buildings are scheduled for completion fall 2013.
