LA CROSSE-WI -
A television anchor in western Wisconsin says a man who wrote her an email criticizing her weight is a bully.
Jennifer Livingston responded to the email Tuesday morning during a 4-minute editorial segment on WKBT-TV in La Crosse. Livingston didn't identify the man, who wrote that he was surprised to see her physical condition hadn't improved for years. He wrote that he hopes she doesn't consider herself a suitable example for young people, especially girls.
"The truth is, I am overweight. You could call me fat, and yes, even obese on a doctor's chart," she said on the air. "But, to the person who wrote me that letter, do you think I don't know that...that your cruel words are pointing out something that I don't see? You know nothing about me...I am much more than a number on a scale."
Livingston told Good Morning America's Elizabeth Vargas, Wednesday, she's angry, but not because someone called her fat -- because he called her a bad role model.
She urged children who get picked on not to let bullies define them.
