A suspect wanted for his involvement in the police chase that ended in a fatal car crash surrendered to police on Tuesday and is currently being treated for injuries sustained in the crash at Cooper Green Hospital.
Sources say Birmingham Police and U.S. Marshals have taken Dominique Rashad Smith, 20, of Mulga into custody as they continue their investigation into the events that led the death of a Hanceville family of three on Monday night.
Authorities in body armour and guns drawn have currently surrounded a house at 42nd Street North and Avenue O in Ensley, which they believe one or more suspects are hiding inside.
We will continue to follow the story and update you with the latest information as it is made available.
Update 5:20 p.m.
Police have taken two more suspects into custody after using a battering ram to enter an Ensley home.
Both black, male suspects appeared to be around the same age as the 20-year-old suspect that surrendered earlier today.
