BIRMINGHAM - AL -
One person is dead and another injured after a shooting in
North Birmingham Saturday night.
Birmingham Police responded to 813 50th
Street North at approximately 9:40 p.m. to investigate reports of gunshots
being fired and a person injured. When officers arrived at the scene, a person
was found lying to the side of the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to UAB Hospital, where the victim later died.
The name of the victim has not been released, pending
confirmation by the Jefferson County Coroner and notification of the victim's
immediate family.
A second person who was involved in the same shooting
arrived at UAB Hospital by personal car. That person suffered a non-life
threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
As of now, police have made no arrests. If you have
information regarding this case, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at
254-7777.
