Massachusetts prosecutors drop Bishop's murder charge

BOSTON - MA -

Prosecutors in Massachusetts have now withdrawn a murder charge against Amy Bishop.

The former UAH professor had been charged with killing her brother in 1986.  But this week, Bishop was sentenced to life without parole for the killings of three colleagues during a staff meeting at UAH in 2010.

Massachusetts prosecutors say that punishment is identical to the one they would seek in her brother's death.  They say that means there's no need to proceed with their case.
