Brighton murder victim's mother talks about arrests

BRIGHTON - AL -

"They have to pay for what they did," Tamara Morrell said.

Morrell is speaking to the men accused of murdering her son, 34-year-old Ajamu Coles.

"They've not only murdered my son and ruined my life," she said. "But they've ruined their families lives also."

Coles was killed, Tuesday, at "The Blue Store" off Huntsville Avenue in Brighton. Police Chief Johnnie Johnson says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But, Friday, there was a break in the case.

23-year-old Frank Sealie and 30-year-old Mitchum Goodwin Jr. are now in custody, charged with murder, as well as attempted murder of 20-year-old Kevin Hatter, who was also shot the same night.

But police still need your help.

"The third suspect is still at large," Johnson said.

The third suspect is 23-year-old Cabrera Brock. He's believed to be armed and dangerous.

"We do not know where this young man is right now," Johnson said. "But we are also asking the members of the press and the public to assist us in capturing this young man."

But even when Brock is captured, Morrell says it won't matter.

"To have them prosecuted and whatever else...it's not going to help," she said. "It's not going to bring my child back. That was my only child."

Police say if you have any information on where Brock might be, you're asked to call the Brighton Police Dept. at 205-425-8934.
