TUSCALOOSA - AL -
Tuscaloosa officials are considering a temporary ban on businesses that some consider undesirable. The idea is being discussed in the wake of Northport's recent move to temporarily ban some businesses. Supporters say a temporary ban would give Tuscaloosa time to study the effect certain businesses have on their surrounding area. Tuscaloosa City Attorney, Tim Nunnally, is composing multiple drafts of a moratorium that would halt the construction and relocation of tattoo parlors, check-cashing businesses and pawn shops. The Tuscaloosa City Council is expected to consider the measure next week. If approved, Tuscaloosa's measure would be similar to the moratorium adopted by Northport.
