BIRMINGHAM - AL -
Birmingham police are investigating a shooting outside a Bluff Park deli. Police believe the incident started with a carjacking. One person was apparently shot just after 8:00pm in a parking lot near Mr. P's Deli. There's no word on the extent of the injuries.
Police say a suspect may have fled in a silver Buick LeSabre with license number 1C15J54- and may have headed north on I-65.
Little other information is available at this time.
Update Thursday September 27, 2012:
The Birmingham Police Department has confirmed that 17-year-old Toby Henderson of Vestavia Hills was shot outside Mr. P's Deli on Shades Crest Road which authorities are investigating as a possible robbery and carjacking. He is currently in UAB Hospital in critical condition after being shot twice, once in the head.
He is the son of a retired Birmingham Police officer and current Fultondale officer, Jim Henderson.
Police are still searching for the suspect who left the scene in a silver Buick LeSabre seen heading north on Interstate 65.
