According to a release from Tuscaloosa Police, the man who robbed a woman at gunpoint outside a Tuscaloosa Publix grocery store has been arrested.

Willie Church Jr., 19, of Marion was charged with first degree robbery and transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $60,000 bond.

The incident happened at 8:29 a.m. on Wednesday in the parking lot of the Publix located at 1101 Southview Lane.  The victim told the police that the suspect walked up to her and demanded her purse while pointing a handgun at her.  After giving the man her purse who then ran from the scene, the victim called police and gave a description of the man and his getaway vehicle.

A deputy with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office spotted the vehicle on Bobby Miller Parkway and stopped the car to find three suspects inside, but not the alleged robber.

Officers were able to locate the wanted man near Wisteria Drive where he was taken into custody along with the three other suspects found in the getaway vehicle.  After questioning at the Tuscaloosa Police Department, two of the suspects were arrested, Church and a 16-year-old juvenile who was charged with cocaine possession.

More charges may be pending against the other two occupants of the vehicle.
