Gambling investigation, vice operation by Birmingham Police leads to arrests

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives have arrested and charged suspects in connection with a vice operation.

The operation took place just after midnight on September 22 and the arrests were a result of a long term gambling investigation at Big Shots located at 2404 Cahaba River Road.

A July 27 vice operation at Hogan's, located at 505 Cahaba Park Circle off Highway 280, produced information that led detectives to investigate possible gambling at Big Shot's.

Police made 11 arrests in the investigation including one for unlawful possession of controlled substances, one for violation of state firearms act and nine for gambling. They also siezed almost $2,000 in cash.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
