New system to verify liability insurance

A driver's chances of being hit by an uninsured motorist in Alabama may go down after January 1st. A new system will verify whether a motorist abides by the state's law requiring liability insurance. The goal is to crack down on the estimated 22% of vehicles that do not have insurance. County license plate offices will also verify when issuing or renewing car tags.
