BIRMINGHAM - AL -

National Enquirer's parent company wants a lawsuit filed in federal court by a missing teen's mother dropped.

Attorneys for American Media argue articles published in the National Enquirer about Natalee Holloway's disappearance did not invade Beth Holloway's privacy. They even claim Holloway "fostered" much of the publicity and speculation herself.

The attorneys also make the case that the publication came out in June 2010 and is "barred by the statute of limitations."

Holloway's lawsuit says National Enquirer published false headlines, articles and statements over a seven year period after her daughter went missing from Aruba in 2005.
