Interviews for the Superintendent position for Jefferson County Schools are wrapping up.

The Jefferson County Board of Education interviewed Dr. Julie Hannah Thursday afternoon.

Hannah is the Director for Student Learning for Alabama's Department of Education. She's also served as Interim Deputy Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools before.

After the interview, Hannah told ABC 33/40 that with her past experience, she can bring a deep knowledge of the school system to Jefferson County.  Hannah says her main focus is to improve the quality of education that Jefferson County students receive.

"We exist for kids.  We exist for the learning of kids..and so my main focus would be to really pull our people together..lets look at our data, lets look at the areas we need to work on," Hannah says. "Lets fix those so that we can give our kids the very best education, give our kids the best chance for graduating and moving on to doing what they want to do in life."

Dr. Karyle Green, Supt. of East Allen Co., Indiana was interviewed Friday.

Dr. Stephen Nowlin, Supt. of Lee County Schools in Opelika, Alan Dale Robbins, retired Associate Superintendent in Gwinnett County, Georgia and Brett Stanton, Supt. of Harlason County Schools in Tallapoosa, GA have already been interviewed.

The board hopes to make a decision by the first week in October.
