A country road that leads to new friends and blessings

ONEONTA - AL -

A big thanks to the sweet people of Oneonta. I had a great time sharing about the news, health and upcoming breast cancer awareness. Many of the people I spoke with were legally blind, but that doesn't stop them from getting out and going.

If you are looking for a great Sunday drive destination... The beautiful rolling hills outside of Oneonta are just what the doctor ordered. It's a great way to clear your head. A drive in the country.

In fact I remember what Sundays were all about decades ago.

After church there would be lunch, and then on to grandmom's house. On the way there we drove for an hour over long winding hilly roads.

Now that I have a few years under my belt, I really appreciate a quiet drive in the country.

To make it even better, when I arrived at the United Methodist Church, there was a pot luck lunch including pound cakes!

Many had stories of survival from cancer. One lady in particular who called herself Roll Tide Betty.... Said her cousin wrote the Jack's Hamburger jingle that you hear today. He lost his battle to cancer.

But there were many stories of long term survival after a cancer battle.

The bottom line of the visit today was encouragement.... We need to encourage each other to get to the doc appointments, we need to encourage each other in general.

After all God gave us each other to help lift each other up.... Not to tear down.

God Bless!!!
