Interviews continue for Jefferson Co. Superintendent search

The Jefferson County Board of Education has heard from the second finalist in is search for a new superintendent.

Brett Stanton, Superintendent of Harlason County Schools in Tallapoosa, Georgia, took the hot seat on September 18th.

Stanton says the students are his number one priority.

"I've realized over the course of time that kids are kids.  They really don't care how much we know until they know how much we care as individuals," Stanton tells ABC 33/40.

Stanton also says that in order to gain the trust of students, school leaders must address their needs and provide them with opportunities to succeed in life.

Dr. Stephen Nowlin, Superintendent of Lee County Schools in Opelika, interviewed on Sept. 17th.  Dale Robbins, retired Asso. Supt. in Gwinnett Co., GA will be interviewed on Sept. 19th.  Dr. Julie Hannah, Director for Student Learning for the Alabama Dept. of Education will be interviewed Sept. 20th.  On Sept. 21st, Dr. Karyle Green, Supt. of East Allen Co., Indiana will be interviewed.
