There are people with mental illness in nearly every community.  Meeting their needs has to be a priority.  That is why the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is hosting a three day training class.  The seminar will focus on recognizing the signs of mental illness and what agencies to call to better meet the needs with consumers affected by the illness.

The sheriff's office says this training is beneficial to the deputies and officers on the street because it will enable them to ensure people with mental illness they come in contact with are directed to the appropriate agencies for assistance.

This class is Tuesday through Thursday at the sheriff's Hangar.  It is located at 7609 Robert Cardinal Airport Road at the Tuscaloosa Municipal Airport. The class is funded by the US Department of Justice.
