The county started out with a $40 million deficit and will end with just a $4 million deficit. Commissioners decided to use four million dollars in capitol funds which will balance the budget.
The budget includes adding technology and giving merit raises for county employees and possibly hiring more employees.
County manager Tony Petelos says Jefferson County is doing all it can to maintain. "We had to do some very creative things with the budget, but with that said, i feel like we are barely providing services that we need to be providing, but we will continue to hang on at the rate that we're doing," says Petelos.
The budget is expected to be voted on Tuesday September 25th.
