    The Literacy Council of Alabama is looking to get more people reading in Shelby County.

    The group held a Literacy Launch event Tuesday night at the North Shelby Library.  It served as a kick-off for the Council's first chapter in Shelby County.

    The council says there are more than 8,400 people in Shelby County who cannot read.  It says statewide, there are more than 90,000.  The literacy Council already has chapters in many other counties around the state.
