A former professor has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting three colleagues and wounding three others at a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Amy Bishop pleaded guilty to one count of capital murder involving two or more people and three counts of attempted murder. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty against the Harvard-educated Bishop.
Sentencing in the case will be after a September 24th hearing.
Bishop also is charged with killing her brother in Massachusetts in 1986. That shooting was originally ruled accidental, but the Alabama slayings prompted a new investigation and charges.
