The texting while driving ban has been in effect for just over a month, and so far State Troopers have issued 14 citations. This number might increase as other agencies report their totals.
In one case, a State Trooper ticketed a Birmingham man who was weaving across lanes on I-459 North in Hoover as he texted behind the wheel, and another case involved a Hoover woman who was texting with both hands on her phone while steering the car with her wrists.
