The "Lipstick Effect"

A new study adds a twist to the so-called "Lipstick Effect."

For years, research has found that women tend to spend more on cosmetics in tough, economic times. However, in the past, the need for confidence and comfort has been the main contributing factor, but now researches at several universities say the phenomenon is evolutionary. Hence, the number of eligible, financially-stable men shrinks during a recession, forcing women to enhance their look to attract mates.

Focus @ 4 asked local women what they think is behind the "Lipstick Effect." Tune in for their comments as well as viewer input on Facebook and Twitter during Tuesday's show.
