Patriot Day ceremonies

Tuesday will mark eleven years since the terrorist attacks against the United States. Some cities are hosting Patriot Day ceremonies to commemorate the anniversary.


The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6022 and Ladies Auxiliary will have a ceremony Tuesday morning at their Cottondale post home. The Ceremonial Bell will ring at 8:46 a.m., followed by the lowering of the American flag to half-mast to honor those who died on September 11, 2011. Coffee and doughnuts will be served and all are welcome to attend. The post is located at 7001 University Boulevard East in Cottondale.


The City of Homewood, along with the Cities of Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills will be hosting a Patriot Day Ceremony at Soho Plaza, located at 2850 19th Street South. You can join the observance starting at 9:00 a.m.


Adamsville will have a community prayer beginning at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall. Minor High School Band will be performing and everyone is invited to attend. You can find Adamsville City Hall at 4828 Main Street.
