Louisiana-Monroe upsets No. 8 Arkansas, travels to Auburn next

The first major upset of the 2012 college football season has happened, and it only took 481 total yards and four total touchdowns by Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning to get it done.

The Warhawks upended the No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks 34-31 at home in overtime after Browning raced for his last 16 yards of the night to the end zone for the winning score.

The Sun Belt took down a top-ten SEC team by scoring 21 unanswered points in the second half to force overtime.

After holding the potent Razorbacks' offense to a field goal in the first possession of extra time, UL-Monroe needed only four plays to knock off the heavily favored Hogs.

Browning's Heisman-like performance will be talked about for the rest of the season, and will surely be talked about in the Auburn Tigers' defensive film sessions for the next six days.

The Warhawks will travel next Saturday to take on a reeling Auburn team coming off a double-digit loss to Mississippi State.  The Tigers gave up over 200 yards rushing in their first game to Clemson's Andre Ellington and made Bulldogs' quarterback Tyler Russell look like Aaron Rodgers in the loss today.

If Browning has another night like tonight, one week from today, that pesky team from the Bayou could be 2-0 against the big, bad SEC.

Somewhere in Tuscaloosa, Nick Saban is shaking his head.

Note to John L. Smith:  Don't compare this loss to 9/11.
