NEW ORLEANS - LA -

A lawsuit over use of Chinese drywall will be able to go forward.  The suit was filed by homeowners who blamed a drywall manufacturer for damage to their property.

Taishan Gypsum Co, Ltd. argued that United States courts don't have jurisdiction in claims against the Chinese company.  A federal judge in new Orleans denied that argument, and would not dismiss the claims.

He also refused to vacate a $2.6 million judgment entered against the company when it initially refused to respond to the suit.

Alabama is among a handful of southern states where the drywall was sold.
