Hurricane Isaac has cost the state of Louisiana at least $66 million so far. More than $56 million went into preparation and response efforts. That includes things like shelters, fuel, food and water. According to Governor Jindal's Division of Administration, an estimated $9 million went towards overtime and employee costs.
The governor says parish governments have spent around $10 million.
About 75% of the costs is expected to be covered by FEMA. That will leave the state with at least a $14 million bill. A state emergency response fund holds over $15 million that can help with those costs.
