State Democrats have at least one qualified candidate to run as the party's nominee for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
Monday, Jefferson county civil circuit Judge Robert Vance qualified to be the party's nominee. Others have until noon Wednesday to qualify.
If more than one person does so, a committee will then select the party's nominee from those qualified to run.
As we first reported on focus@4 last week, it is expected that Vance will indeed be the nominee.
On Friday, the party disqualified Pelham attorney Harry Lyon for violating the state party's bylaws.
The new candidate will go up against Republican Roy Moore in the November general election.
