For most students, excelling in the classroom, requires that you first be comfortable. That's difficult if you're being bullied. Bullying takes on many forms, no longer is it limited to face-to-face interactions. Young people can find themselves harassed online in the form of cyber-bullying.
A few months ago the Alabama State Department of Education unveiled its, Stop Bullying in Alabama website. The site provides resources such as laws, videos, studies and a parent's guide to cyber threats. It's a comprehensive approach that many local teachers support.
Guidance counselors encourage students to go to their school to see what resources are available. And to always report to school officials or authorities if you're being bullied or witness it.
