Drought could take a toll on Christmas trees

Posted: Updated:

This year's drought could mean fewer Christmas trees in the future. But experts say, this year's harvest should be fine.

Some Christmas tree farmers say the dry weather is killing their trees. One farmer in Michigan says he lost 4,000 this year. But the losses are new growth, not more mature trees that are getting ready for market. It can take more than 7 years to grow a Christmas tree, so shortages may be a few years away.
