Nearly 30 Bessemer children kicked back-to-school shopping into high gear Thursday with a spree in Target.
The major retailer partnered with the Salvation Army to provide $80 gift cards to students who need financial assistance. Salvation Army staff says they hope to do the same for Shelby County or Birmingham City Schools students next year.
The program, sponsored by Target, is part of the store's plan to donate one billion dollars to education by 2014.
