Two innovative uses of technology came forward this week:

  Apple applied for a patent on new light-metering systems for iOS5.  THe system uses face tracking combined with metering.  The idea is to make sure in your pictures, there's a high enough exposure so that you can see the faces of backlit people.

    Smart pills could help you be sure you;ve taken your medication.  Copper and magnesium in the pills combines with digestive fluids to produce a very low voltage.  This is picked up by a skin patch, that then notifies an app on a smart phone that you've taken your medication.  Doctors say it could help with patients who need help caring for themselves.  THe FDA has approved the technology, but it;s only been used in placebo pills.
