Thousands of people across Central Alabama crowded Chick-fil-A parking lots and restaurants Wednesday.
In an unofficial "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," people bought food at the restaurant in support of the fast food chain's president Dan Cathy and his views on traditional marriage. Cathy has come under fire from some groups for views he publicly expressed.
But not everyone is on board. Members of the Central Alabama Pride group agree people should choose what they believe, but they choose to take their business elsewhere, including competing restaurants that serve chicken.
The Chick-fil-A metro-Birmingham marketing director tells ABC 33/40 the chain experienced larger-than-expected crowds Wednesday but did not have a statement because the event was not officially-sponsored by the organization.
