Only one in four Americans with HIV has the virus under control.
U.S. health researchers say overall, too few people with HIV have viral suppression. People with viral load suppression are healthy and less likely to transmit the virus to others.
They analyzed 2009 data collected by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. Researchers say the problem applies to patients of all ages, races and ethnic groups, but especially to young people and African Americans. Experts say, one in five people is living with HIV and don't know it.
