AG supports tougher gambling penalty

Posted: Updated:

The penalty for gambling might not be harsh enough, according to the Alabama attorney general.

Luther Strange made the comment after police raided Dothan's Center Stage Casino Wednesday. Police seized almost 700 pieces of equipment and more than $200,000 in cash. Officers made no arrests.

There could be fines of up to $6,000. Strange says he believes the legislature can put an end to illegal activities by simply increasing the penalty to a felony.
